This moderate level of the trek can be done by all age groups, but regular exercise a few weeks before the trek is necessary to complete the trek successfully. About Short Everest Base Camp Trek
Upon reaching Lukla airport you will meet the rest of your team and start moving. The first day of the trek is a 6 hours walk. Where you will stay overnight at Monjo village. You can also change the itinerary and choose to stay overnight at Phakding before the trek starts. The second day of the trek will take you to the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar. You can meet and interact with the hikers moving towards or coming from the trekking trails of the Everest region.
Similarly, walking through the rural villages you will pass through Tengboche, Pangboche, Lobuche, and many other sherpa villages to finally reach Gorak Shep. Upon reaching Gorak Shep you will check in at the hotel and leave your backpack at the hotel to explore the Everest Base Camp. The base camp of Mount Everest lies at an elevation of 5,364 meters above sea level. The hiking distance from Gorak Shep to the base camp is about 3.5 kilometers. After spending a few times at the Everest base camp you will return to Gorak Shep for the overnight stay.
The next day wake up early to witness the marvelous sunrise views over the high mountain ranges from Kala Patthar. Kalapatthar is the highest point of the short Everest base camp trek. You will again leave your backpack at the hotel and move towards the Kala Patthar early in the morning. The distance from Gorak Shep to Kalapatthar is 1.2 kilometers only, but you will have to walk steeply uphill to reach this point. You will return to the same route and follow the same path to reach Lukla. You will take an early morning flight to reach Kathmandu.
How difficult is the Everest Base camp trek?
